2009 BEST SHOW BEAUCERON

Cayenne de la Cite des Grands Feux or "Paju" as we friends call her, has proved to be more temperamental, curious, independent, stubborn and brave start of a dog as I would’ve thought. The principal of this active junior is to steal all small laundry from string, and give it back in return for a treat. As we always should, I also try to see brighter side in this: maybe later the object test will be easy for her part. Furthermore, Paju speaks dog language well and has helped certain young dog fellow to encourage himself in the company of more matured dogs.

Home education kicked off instantly, and puppy course was attended almost immediately after. Next course was TOKO basics and after it BH basics. We’ve paid visit to a herding school for couple of times, too. Leader of these courses has been Kaisa Hilska from Koirataito. With the same conductor we go on to the hall season with BH and PK obedience. If weather is too ill we continue herding studies on spring.

From the start we’ve been training obedience at different places. Tracing has mostly been done in woods, though some training has been at fields also. Paju is sharp on trace. During tracing training we’ve focused on trace itself, and now on the start of fall have angles got steeper. Sticks we left for the coming year. It was releaving to notice that first heat didn’t affect her working. Ruin/industrial-area/building search basics kicked off too. On the ruins we have trained racks, moving on unstable platforms and person search. Expression has come along during fall and with little exercise should be on good form.It has been said that it ain’t going to be a good search dog if training gets started at ruins. I however didn’t want forest search to be one upon the other with trace in the beginning. Paju is so independent that I don’t think separating will be a problem.

Paju loves water and it has made thinking about Water Rescue test. From the beginning Paju has been fascinated about small streams, paddles and even bigger amounts of water. We learned to swim at once. At first it felt weird when solid platform disappeared, but after little thinking, we jumped straight back to the lake. Swimjumps from the pier were learned by accident, too. Paju asks for a lot to do and hustle, and when the energy starts running low it keeps going with just guts for a while.

There’s a beginning of an outstanding workdog in my hands, and I hope to learn enough myself to keep on with the pace of developing Paju. Now we just push steadily forward and see how far the educators’ skills take us.
